The project consists of (4) 2-story walk-up buildings and a residential community center, with a total of 72 apartments designated for farmworkers. Project amenities include BBQ areas, bike rack areas, kid’s playground area and a basketball court. There will be a grand total of 139 parking spaces. It is both the first LEED Platinum and Net Zero Energy development in Mendocino County.
The project will also include solar PV panels on the car ports and building flat roof areas for 100% energy usage. Also, the project will include solar pre-heat water heaters on the flat roof portions of each building. There will be no gas utility service on the site. The project will be financed with USDA RHS 514 funds and must meet the following green requirements: 1) LEED Platinum 2) DOE Net Zero Building 3) Water Sense 4) Exceed Title 24 by 15% (2016) 5) 100% ELECTRIC 6) 100% Solar & Net Zero Energy 7) Solar thermal preheating Completed: 2020 Breen Scope: MEP Engineering |
