Heritage Park & Museum
Loma Linda University - Loma Linda, CA

BREEN recently completed preliminary civil site documentation for Loma Linda University’s use in fundraising for the new Museum Building Park for Cannon Design. The Museum will be constructed on a hillside and aims for LEED certification. Once funding is obtained, BEI will complete construction documents including site grading and utilities. Sustainable design strategies used include a green roof and plans for treating and infiltrating stormwater. Due to limited space available on the hillside for other bio treatment methods, mechanical treatment methods were also proposed for stormwater treatment.

Blue Mountain Senior Villas, Senior Center & City Park
Grand Terrace, CA

As a consultant for Corporation for Better Housing, BEI provided full MEP and Civil Engineering design services for this new Senior Center and adjacent City Park. Site design included the incorporation of bio-swales which traverse the City Park and provide stormwater treatment for the entire site, including the Villas, Senior Center and parking lot runoff. Construction of the site was completed in late 2009.

Firestone Boulevard and Willow Avenues
City of South Gate, CA

BREEN Civil and MEP Departments provided street lighting design, Photometry and Alternate Study for LED Lighting on Firestone Blvd. (660’) and Willow Ave. (520’). Our work began in February 2009, and included studies, planning and design, using AGI 32 Lighting Analysis program.

Raul Perez Community Park
Huntington Park, CA

Currently in development with HMC Architects, Raul Perez Community Park (formerly known as Westside Park) is situated in the City of Huntington Park. The surrounding region is highly developed with few vacant properties or areas of open space. The park will replace industrial buildings and will be adjacent to a new LAUSD High School. The proposed park totals approximately 4.5 acres and will include basketball courts, playground equipment, restroom facilities, a community center, outdoor stage, soccer field, barbeque and picnic areas, walking paths, a splash pad, and on-site parking. Site design includes the use of bio-swales for treating stormwater runoff from the new parking lot. Turf planting for the soccer field and other landscaping will contribute to biomitigation of stormwater.

Catalina Avenue
Pasadena, CA

This Polytechnic School project not only involved improvements to the Campus, but also surrounding City of Pasadena streets. BREEN Engineering's Civil and MEP Departments began work in 2006 at the east end of the Campus on Wilson Avenue between California and Cornell Aves. Street improvements included: widening of parkways and narrowing of street to provide a pedestrian friendly area, design of new curb and gutter, redesigning curb ramps for ADA compliance, addition of new street trees and lights, and the dedication and improvement of Campus property to the City of Pasadena. A number of new utility laterals from the Campus were also included in the street improvement plans. MEP provided photometric calculations showing light pole spacing and point by point footcandle readings for uniform illumination.
