Will Rogers Middle School - Administration Buildings

BREEN provided architectural programming and space planning for the existing Administration Buildings J and K. The buildings’ semi-circular shaped layout, provides a dynamic layout in its site context, but now has limited space and no longer meets the school’s current needs.

In the programming and space planning report, Building J will be expanded to include student-teacher-counselor oriented spaces, emotional wellness, dining and work functions, health care team, a larger conference room and more adequate reception and secretarial space, remodeled teachers’ lounge will and more organized teacher workspace. The scheme also takes advantage of underutilized outdoor space between for a new outdoor lounge. 

Building K will become expanded to become better equipped with proper lobby circulation, clerical space, re-designed physical health and nurse facilities, additional record storage, restrooms (public and private), better senior administrator proximity, additional meeting space and improved campus sight lines for the Principal and Assistant Principal. 

BREEN was further awarded the contract to design the expansion of approximately 6,500 square feet for Administration Buildings J & K. The concentric plan around the internal courtyard has established itself as a character-defining feature of the Rogers MS campus. Our design will use underutilized plaza space in front of the school allowing for the radius walls to shift toward the Street frontage modifying and enhancing landscape, hardscape, student safety, circulation, parking, accessibility, public right-of-way and a fresh front facade.
