CIVIL ENGINEER
Breen Engineering is looking for an experienced candidate to serve as a Civil Engineer in our Torrance, California office. This position would act as the lead project engineer for varied development projects.
The Civil Engineer candidate will be capable of managing their own projects, meeting schedules and deliverable dates as necessary, while also being an integral leader and project manager in the Breen Civil Department.  This position affords the candidate the opportunity to not only work on new and exciting projects, but also to expand their skills and knowledge in the realm of project pursuits, client management, and project management.

​Responsibilities
Various anticipated tasks include:
  • Engineering design including grading, utilities and horizontal control for commercial site development and street improvement projects.
  • Performing engineering calculations and analyses including but not limited to earthwork, drainage flow, storm water treatment, and sewer capacity analysis.
  • Implementation of Low Impact Development on project designs. 
  • Management of projects, as well as junior engineers, designers, drafters, and clients.
  • Construction Document preparation and specification preparation to accompany construction documents.

Qualifications

BREEN Design Group is seeking a full-time Job Captain who can grow with the firm and contribute to the production work in preparing construction documents and help support the architectural team. Primary work tasks will include, drafting and development of design, field investigation, coordination with engineers, clients, and regulatory agencies, performing site analysis, and providing support to the architectural & engineering team.
Essential Responsibilities
  1. Primarily responsible for project production from concept through construction documents.
  2. Responsible for implementing project specific design and program requirements.
  3. Coordination with consultants/engineering disciplines.
  4. Mark-up plans and delegate and distribute tasks to drafters / consultants.
  5. Frequent communication with clients, agencies and consultants regarding progress of work and ensure project schedules.
  6. Coordination with team regarding milestones and plan check submittals for permitting process.

​Candidates for the Senior Electrical Engineer / Designer position should be experienced in the evaluation, design and construction of electrical systems across a broad market spectrum including educational, residential, commercial and industrial facilities. The candidate should also be well versed in building code analysis and interpretation.

  • Assist in completing plans, specifications, and other technical drawings in an efficient and timely manner

Plumbing Designer

The successful candidate will apply mechanical engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to the process and expect to constantly advance their design capabilities. Documents will be produced using AutoCAD.
 
Responsibilities
  • Design and layout of engineering drawings within the Plumbing and Fire Protection specialties.
  • Preparation of complete Plumbing and Fire Protection calculations including water supply, storm drainage, and equipment sizing.
  • Design Plumbing systems including sanitary waste and vent, storm water, domestic water distribution systems and natural gas distribution systems.
  • Design, size, select, schedule, and specify basic Plumbing system components to include fixtures, specialties, and equipment.
  • Design and select fire protection systems and equipment.
  • Qualifications
  • Knowledgeable in consulting engineering and construction practices including preparation of plans, specifications, in both design/bid and design/build scenarios.
  • Knowledgeable of construction administration roles and responsibilities including submittal review, RFI responses, site visits and field reports.
  • Works to keep errors to a minimum by developing construction documents that are code compliant and constructible using standard industry practices.
  • Help to create realistic design schedules while identifying, reacting and communicating immediately to symptoms before they become larger problems.
  • Provide technical CAD and BIM production services using AutoCAD and Revit.

STRUCTURAL DESIGNER/ENGINEER 
​BREEN Design Group is looking for a skilled candidate to be a Structural designer/engineer in our Torrance, California office.  This position would the candidate to provide structural engineering design, analysis, calculation, drawings, and field survey work for new construction, alterations and renovations.
 
Qualifications include:
  1. B.S. in Structural/Civil Engineering, with an M.S. in Structural Engineering preferred. 
  2. 5+ years of experience in structural engineering; Professional Engineering License preferred. 
  3. Strong computer skills in Excel, Word, AutoCAD, RISA, ENERCALC, RAM, etc. required. 
  4. Strong knowledge of ACI 318 Concrete Design, AISC LRFD/ASD Steel Design, NDS Wood Design, ASCE 7 Minimum Design Loads required. 
  5. Authorized to work legally in the U.S. without sponsorship.
The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be well-organized and self-disciplined with good independent problem solving skills.
CIVIL ENGINEERING DESIGNER
​BREEN Design Group is looking for a skilled candidate to be a Civil Engineering Designer in our Torrance, California office. This position would require the candidate to act in a supporting capacity to a lead project engineer and serve as a focal point for design on development projects.

​Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the lead project engineer, the Civil Engineering Designer will handle various aspects of engineering design, including:
  1. Grading, utilities and horizontal control for commercial site development and street improvement projects
  2. Wet utility design and profiles (storm drain, sewer, and fire services)
  3. Storm water treatment calculations and reports for Low Impact Design and SUSMP compliance
  4. ADA requirements and design
  5. SWPPP reports and erosion control
  6. Earthwork calculations
 
The Civil Engineering Designer will be tasked with design of projects from the research and planning stages, through the development of design and coordination with other disciplines, into final construction documents, and eventually construction administration, including site visits and confirmation of construction performed.

Qualifications
  1. Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited four-year university with one year of experience in related design work or similar internship experience preferred.
  2. Successful completion of the Engineer In Training (EIT) exam is preferred, but not required. 
  3. Experience with AutoCAD is highly preferred, however, those with minimal or no experience may be considered.

junior structural drafter
BREEN Design Group is currently seeking Junior-level Structural Drafter. The candidate must be proficient with AutoCAD, with prior experience in the structural drafting and detailing.

Responsibilities
  1. Creating and modifying structural drawings using AutoCAD, based on hand-drawn sketches, marked-up pdf files, and/or verbal instructions.
  2. Develops necessary plans and details with limited supervision.
  3. Ensure that the deliverables and are on schedule, complete and meet company's QA requirements.

Qualifications
  1. Drafting Diploma or Certificate, Associate Degree in an engineering design related technology preferred.
  2. 2+ years of structural drafting experience using AutoCAD.
  3. Ability to interpret structural, architectural, civil, and MEP drawings.

architectural intern
BREEN Design Group is seeking an Architectural Intern who can grow with the firm and contribute to the development of project documents. Work tasks will include, but not limited to, AutoCAD drafting, field measuring, doing research and assist in managing project specifications, assist the Architect and/or Project Manager in securing necessary permit approvals, preparing and keeping records of project meeting notes, and providing support to the architectural team for tasks in the office.
Responsibilities
  1. Visit job sites to field measure and collect data for design requirements.
  2. Perform AutoCAD drafting support in preparing floorplans, schedules, diagrams and detail drawings from Architect’s sketches or notes using AutoCAD. Revit is a plus.
  3. Read blueprints, as-builts and be able to interpret civil, structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical engineering drawings.
  4. Understand drawing changes and able to coordinate and modify related drawings.
  5. Assist Architect in preparing meeting notes, project programming and project specifications.

  2. Coordinating communication activities, including email campaigns, website updates, and social media platforms,
  3. Maintaining accurate database information used for proposals and projects,
  4. Assisting with external business development efforts, which may include special events, conferences, etc.

Marketing Coordinator - Required Skills:
  1. Minimum education: Associate degree or equivalent to three years of relevant work experience. Degrees in related fields, such as Journalism, Communications, English, Business, or related field, from an accredited university, a plus.
