UCR Child Development Center
University of California Riverside

This project is located on a 6-acre site in the Canyon Crest Housing area of the University of California Riverside and was completed in the summer of 2009. It consists of a new Child Development Center and adjacent 50-car parking lot. In addition to Breen Engineering specifying normal onsite utilities, it was necessary to document the extension of more than 1000 feet of Campus water main, for fire and domestic water service to the site. Storm water management was accomplished by distributing all runoff from the site to adjacent unpaved areas for treatment and infiltration. Grading and accessibility of the interior courtyard areas were a special challenge, due to the presence of state-of-the-art play equipment for the children, and the need to keep built-in, perimeter outdoor play tables and counters accessible.

Student Recreation Center Expansion
University of California Riverside

BEI Civil currently in the process of participating as a consultant to Cannon Design in the preparation of a Detailed Project Program (DPP) for an expansion planned for the Campus Student Recreation Center. The original building was constructed in 1994 and was designed to support a campus of 11,000 students. Expansion is necessary to provide facilities to a growing student population while enhancing the programs currently offered. The campus expects to increase to an estimated 22,000 students by 2016. The campus sits on a 1,121-acre site three miles east of downtown Riverside.
